Service Description

Scent work games, inspired by the creative setups of Natalie McManus, Michael McManus, Michele Ellertson, and Dianna Santos. These exercises will challenge you and your dog to refine handling skills and tackle a variety of hide scenarios in a fun and playful way. Prereq's: Dogs should be at an AKC Nov/Adv or NACSW NW1/NW2 level and on birch, anise, and multi hides. Meet your instructors: Samantha Speegle is a professional dog trainer, a graduate of Karen Pryor Academy, and the owner of Columbus Canines. She is Fear Free Certified and an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. Specializing in scent work, she helps dogs and their handlers develop strong, trusting partnerships. Samantha shares her life with six dogs: Riley, her 15-year-old puggle who introduced her to the world of scent work; Bailey, her active trial partner with whom she competes in NACSW, AKC, and CPE; Lucy, who is currently competing in NACSW; Tucker, who is building confidence through his passion for scent work; and Charlie and Winnie, who also enjoy tagging along and playing scent games. Samantha is passionate about fostering curiosity in dogs through creative problem-solving exercises and helping nervous dogs build confidence through scent work. Her approach addresses both the emotional and cognitive needs of each dog, ensuring that the training journey is not only productive but also enjoyable and fulfilling for both dogs and handlers. Trish Neel-Wilson KPA-CTP-KA Trish's enjoys training and trialing with her current dogs: Roxy, a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, holds prestigious titles such as Elite Champion and Summit in NACSW, along with Detective and Master Elite titles in AKC, as well as titles in UKC, CPE, and CWAGS. Parker, a Cardigan Welsh Corgi, is actively competing in NACSW Elite and holds an ELT1 title. He also boasts a Master Elite title in AKC. Snooze, another Chesapeake Bay Retriever, is gaining confidence in Nosework. He recently completed his NACSW ORT and qualified in vehicles, exteriors, and containers at his first CPE trial. In addition to her impressive trial experience, Trish is KPA-CTP, Tag Teach certified, ABCT certified, and holds an inactive CPDT certification. Her extensive background includes working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments, having fostered over 200 dogs with her husband.
